PRESS RELEASE BY JOHNATHAN WIDRAN:
MOVE OVER, BEYONCE/COWBOY CARTER!
FAST-EMERGING DUAL GENRE ARTIST
AMIKO ENJOYS OUT OF THE BOX
SUCCESS WITH HER COUNTRY SINGLE
“HAT TRICK” AND #1 AMAZON
DANCE/ELECTRONIC TRACK “RECKLESS”
AMIKO PRESS RELEASE
In an industry that often tells indie artists that the only road to a devoted fan base is choosing a single lane for creative expression, fast emerging vocalist and songwriter Amiko is an immediate force to be reckoned with in two completely different musical worlds.
At the end of March, the Dallas based, genre defying artist’s debut country single “Hat Trick” recently hit #2 (just behind Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”) on the Apple iTunes Country Sales chart and, laying a foundation for future international success, reached #5 on the Ireland Top 100 chart for all music genres. The track is on course for a remix by Drew G of the remixing duo Dirty Pop, whose credits include Beyonce, Madonna and Cher.
The same week, the original version of Amiko’s first dance/pop single “Reckless” – also released by Dauman Music – hit #1 on the Amazon Worldwide New Releases Best Sellers Dance/Electronic chart and #2 on the Amazon Worldwide Movers and Shakers Dance/Electronic sales chart. Amiko also dropped a remix of “Reckless” by Sean Finn, best known for his collaboration with Corona “The Rhythm of the Night,” which has over 46M streams on Spotify.
Testament to Amiko’s wide range of powerhouse talents and potential as a multi-faceted artist, she is collaborating out of the box with top level songwriters. “Hat Trick” is a co-write with We Are Telaport, the husband and wife duo of Sierra D’Lannie Coleman and Stephen Coleman. The singer co-wrote “Reckless” with Artan Kaleshi and Carlos Battey, aka Jackie’s Boy, a #1 charting Billboard songwriter who has collaborated with Luke Combs, Flo Rida, Madonna, David Guetta, Chris Brown, Sean Kingston, Justin Bieber, Johnny Gill and Charlie Wilson, among others.
“While it’s also used in hockey and cricket, soccer is the largest sport in the world that uses the phrase ‘Hat Trick’ for players who score three goals in a game,” say Amiko. “While I am a major sports fan, the song for me is a metaphor for life, the idea of an incredible accomplishment, achieving something that is hard to do. It’s an emotional story about pushing ourselves further in life than we originally thought we could go. It’s about being a single woman again and wanting to live my life more fully, achieving more and more moving forward.
“While it’s a whole different vibe musically, ‘Reckless’ is another song inspired by the idea that a healthy marriage needs to include moments of daring the status quo, just enough to keep it less predictable,” she adds. “Maybe if we had been more fun and been a little reckless in our marriage, and thrown more caution to the wind, we could have made it. Both songs are really about how I’m feeling about life these days and reflect my ongoing growth as a human being always trying to reach my full potential.”
Born in Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan to an Army Intelligence Officer assigned to Kuma Station and a mother who was the base’s kindergarten teacher, Amiko comes by her artist name naturally. Her babysitter, a traditional Japanese elder-woman, called her “Amiko,” which means “precious little girl.” Inspired by her daughter, who was born in the 2nd trimester prematurely and under 3lbs, who needed a lot of medical intervention before pre-school began, Amiko joined friends and her daughter joined as well, volunteering in a start-up non-profit called The Dragonfly Foundation in Cincinnati, which helps pediatric cancer families and patients find strength, peace, and joy by providing supportive care and fun events. She became the foundation’s 1st Development Director, helping to raise over $800,000.00 in their first year as a start-up and procuring permanent fundraisers, donors and board members, in addition to writing grant requests and assisting with event planning and auctions.
The great love of Amiko’s life is soccer. First playing at age 12 growing up in the Minneapolis suburb of Burnsville, she attended the University of Minnesota, where she played two years of undefeated soccer on the Division I Development Women’s Soccer team and won two Big Ten championships. Amiko won three Minnesota State Championships from the ages of 14-18 and, because of her winning mindset, has dedicated herself to youth soccer coaching for the past 12 years and inspiring the young players she coaches to be winners in life. She also earned the latest certifications in US Soccer youth coaching with the most recent C License in 2023. One of her goals as an artist is to combine her passions and collaborate, write and record the sounds of soccer and perform live at the FIFA World Cups in 2026-27. Amiko says, “It’s a full circle moment to do this with and for the people who also love soccer, have sacrificed so much and also live a life of ignited passion because of the sport!”
