The Nation of Brazil Goes for the Win on “Signs Of Life”!

This is a very exciting moment for me as a former college soccer player, current youth soccer coach and music artist! I just got the news and have now reached my 7th consecutive week at #1 on the Top 30 Chart with “Signs of Life” on radio.fm100!

Songwriting, singing lead vocals and arranging this single was an intriguing journey into my mind, my soul, my passion for soccer and how many ways I can weave a story of emotion about human connection, love, belonging, desire and yearning while using soccer as a literary muse.

The idea of “Signs of Life” is a double entendre (phrase that has 2 meanings) and it all began after writing and recording lead vocals at Rebel 11 Studios near Miami, Florida in Doral. Having just completed writing a- yet to be released single- crafted and inspired by and for the biggest moment in the sport. A love and passion I repeat every cycle with “near religious” fervor is watching the FIFA Men’s and Women’s World Cups. My co-writer/producer Carlos Battey and I sat down to team up for another single of the same purpose, yet we could not get there.

The writing took a turn down a different metaphorical path. It became a story rooted in recovery on both the “pitch” and an epiphany in a relationship. In other words, when your team is down 2 goals with 20 minutes to go in the 2nd half of the game, your “warrior” mode kicks in and you find yourself deep into the other team’s half, having dribbled through 2 defenders with an opportunity to time your shot perfectly and you do. It travels cross-post into the L upper corner of the goal and now you have “signs of life” in the remaining time left in the game. The possibility of a tie is tangible. From there, just one more series of actions and it becomes realistic to presume you have a shot to win this thing. It can be done and you as a competitor relentlessly want that win! You tell yourself “it’s mine”, then your team – a unit of shared minds -that share the same mind in silence and at the same time, the “I” in yourself transformed into a “we” and so on.

The metaphor evolved between Carlos and I, (Carlos btw is a Grammy winner with Madonna’s Revolver featuring, Lil’ Wayne and David Guetta, he’s a 4x Grammy nominee, has 12 #1 Billboard Hit Credits and 40+ Gold and Platinum album credits too) very quickly turned the song into a message about hope in a relationship, new beginnings, waking up to a new or a renewed love, and an undeniable satisfaction in the moment from which you know you are with your person. The team has formed, the emotions have won and the heart rules the path going forward until the “end of time”.

The invisible world had taken us down another path and the fact that a nation like Brazil and its global listeners on internet radio station radio.fm100 in Porto Alegre, Brazil – hometown of Ronaldinho, one of my favorite players of all time is worth noting!  I  have decided to honor “all of me”, through this music and soccer journey and from one of the 5 greatest soccer nations in the history of the world-to be recognized as truly special!  The fact  that Brazil has embraced “Signs of Life” is an honor and a perfect metaphor of the life long love I hold the greatest sport on earth!
